Fall Wedding Flowers

If you go with the traditional wedding season (at least here in North America), which usually takes place in the June-August time frame, you would think that any type of wedding flowers would be available, right? Well, not necessary. Flowers, such as roses and carnations are pretty available throughout the year. You can still have out-of-season wedding flowers shipped in from other parts of the world, but you will be paying a premium.

If you are planning to get marry during the off wedding season, take a look at the following to determine which flowers you can go with.  Going with flowers that are not in season means you will pay a premium to get them shipped from other location around the world.

Fall Flowers

More and more brides are opting to get married in the fall as it is much cooler than the hot humid summers. The fall season is also my favorite season for weddings. The visual beauty of the surrounding tree foliages turning colors makes a fall wedding a beautiful sight to behold. For fall weddings, you can choose warm, colored flowers. Fall flowers include roses, asters, chrysanthemums, gerbera daisies, dahlias, hypericums, zinnias, dry hydrangeas, marigold, sunflowers, statice. The great thing with gerbera daises is that they come in different colors, so you’re sure to be able to match your color theme.  Try incorporating some fall foliage (leaves, rosehip, yarrow, rosemary) into your wedding flowers.

Winter Flowers

Winter flowers include roses, poinsettias, tulips, fern, orchids, forsythias, tulips, jasmine, ivies, amaryllis, hydrangeas, camellias, spruce. While an all red rose bouquet seem to be more appropriate for a wedding, try using white roses along with red roses to complement the wintery snow. For a winter theme, you can also think incorpoating the colors of Christmas (red, green with a touch of gold).

Spring Flowers

Spring flowers include roses, daffodils, forsythia branches, irises, gerber daisies, lilacs, hyacinths, pansies, peonies, tulips, violets, ferns, greenery, lilies, lily of the valley, ivies, dogwoods, tasty peas, apple blossoms, larkspur.

Summer Flowers

Summer flowers include roses, lilies, irises, geraniums, daisies, pansies, zinnias, meadowsweets, violets, dahlias, calla lilies, hydrangeas, delphiniums, sunflowers, greenery, ferns, beach leaves, asters, larkspur, goldenrod.

If you are planning to order out of season flowers, make sure you order them well in advance through your florist.  Your florist may not give you an extact price until the shipping date as prices may fluctuate.  But they should be able to give you a ballpark figure in order for you to add it into your wedding budget.
